Warning: Website misusing the name of The Wilkes Partnership and Bryan Poultney
8 April 2025
The website at 'www.ajrsolicitors.com' is operating and misusing the details of an SRA regulated law firm and SRA regulated solicitor.
What is the scam?
The SRA has been informed that a website at 'www.ajrsolicitors.com' is operating and claiming to be a law firm called 'AJR Solicitors'.
The website is misusing the postal address of a genuine firm of solicitors (see below). It also misuses the name of a genuine practising solicitor (see below).
The website provides the postal address, '41 Church Street, Birmingham, England, B3 2RT'.
The telephone number provided on the website is '+44 121 318 6409' and the email address provided is 'info@ajrsolicitors.com'.
The website also lists a number of other individuals, claiming to that they are 'Qualified Attorneys'. Some of these names are the same as genuine solicitors.
The SRA used to authorise and regulate a firm of solicitors called 'AJR Solicitors Limited' (SRA ID 545469), which ceased trading on 19 June 2013.
Any business or transactions through the website, telephone number or email address set out above are not undertaken by a firm of solicitors currently authorised and regulated by the SRA.
Is there a genuine firm or person?
The SRA authorises and regulates a genuine firm of solicitors called The Wilkes Partnership LLP (SRA ID 562799) whose genuine postal address is 41 Church Street, Birmingham, England, B3 2RT. The SRA also authorises and regulates a genuine practising solicitor called Bryan Gilbert Poultney (SRA ID 140402).
The genuine firm and genuine Bryan Gilbert Poultney have confirmed that they do not have any connection to the website referred to above.
What should I do?
When a firm's or individual's identity has been copied exactly (or cloned), due diligence is necessary. If you receive correspondence claiming to be from the above firm(s) or individual(s), or information of a similar nature to that described, you should conduct your own due diligence by checking the authenticity of the correspondence by contacting the law firm directly by reliable and established means. You can contact the SRA to find out if individuals or firms are regulated and authorised by the SRA and verify an individual's or firm's practising details. Other verification methods, such as checking public records (e.g. telephone directories and company records) may be required in other circumstances.
