Warning: Correspondence misusing the name Faheem Ali and 'Alison Law Solicitors LLP'

Correspondence has been sent from an individual purporting to be Ali Faheem from a law firm called Alison Law. The correspondence misuses the name of a genuine law firm and solicitor.
What is the scam?
The SRA has seen correspondence that has been sent to a law firm from an individual purporting to be Ali Faheem from Alison Law. The correspondence relates to a bridging loan. The email address mcr@alisonslaw.co.uk, telephone number +447757602064 and address 2 Wilmslow Road, Manchester, M14 5TP were provided.
Any business or transaction through the documents described above is not undertaken by a firm or individual authorised and regulated by the SRA.
Is there a genuine firm or person?
The SRA authorises and regulates a genuine firm of solicitors called Alison Law Solicitors LLP whose email address is mcr@alison-law.co.uk and address is 2 Wilmslow Road, Manchester, M14 5TP and a genuine solicitor called Faheem Ali.
Alison Law Solicitors LLP and Faheem Ali have both confirmed that they have no connection to the correspondence referred to in the above alert. The firm have also confirmed that their email domain is @alison-law.co.uk.
What should I do?
When a firm's or individual's identity has been copied exactly (or cloned), due diligence is necessary. If you receive correspondence claiming to be from the above firm(s) or individual(s), or information of a similar nature to that described, you should conduct your own due diligence by checking the authenticity of the correspondence by contacting the law firm directly by reliable and established means. You can contact the SRA to find out if individuals or firms are regulated and authorised by the SRA and verify an individual's or firm's practising details. Other verification methods, such as checking public records (e.g. telephone directories and company records) may be required in other circumstances.
