An email has been sent misusing the name of Stuart Carson and Stewarts Law LLP in relation to locating potential beneficiaries for an estate matter.
What is the scam?
An email has been sent misusing the name of a genuine solicitor and their firm (see below for details) in relation to locating potential beneficiaries for an estate matter.
The email was sent from the email address 'stuartcarson36@gmail.com' and asks for the recipient to send through multiple forms of identification.
Any business or transaction through the email address 'stuartcarson36@gmail.com' is not undertaken by a firm or individual authorised and regulated by the SRA.
Is there a genuine firm or person?
The SRA authorises and regulates a genuine solicitor called Stuart Carson (SRA ID 423093). The genuine solicitor is a partner at the genuine firm Stewarts Law LLP (SRA ID 486857).
The genuine firm uses the email domain @stewartslaw.com. The genuine firm's head office is 5 New Street Square, London, EC4A 3BF and their genuine telephone number is 02078228000.
The genuine firm of Stewarts Law LLP has confirmed that neither they nor Stuart Carson has any connection to the email referred to in the alert above.
What should I do?
